Julian Haart
1,000L Riesling
Yes. God yes. Tropical, enveloping nose. Lychee, and a tiny hint of va or barrel funk on top of perfectly off-dry, brisk but intense palate of concentrated Mosel energy. Beautiful fruit with a crisp, mineral cut. A little much so2 for now, but should calm down in time. Stupid value at under $30. Planning to stock up on this.

Nov 29th, 2020Nectarine, lychee, clementine. Nice weight but still pure, fresh and crisp. The fact that you can find a wine of this caliber from such an esteemed winemaker at this price continues to promote the undervaluation of Riesling, but don’t tell anyone.

Oct 30th, 2020Beautiful bargain. So nicely balanced, aromatic and refreshing. Stone fruit and white flowers and just a little RS to round out the appropriate acidity. The real deal.

Feb 7th, 2023This was totally crushable. Drank this in one sitting (I shared)
👅Lime, pear, and apple fruits combine with some musky herbal notes (cilantro?)
This has the telltale Julian Haart signature of herbal muskiness and minerality that add bass notes to the treble from the fruit and bright acidity
-Levitates on the palate
-Feinherb+ sweetness level
-Refreshing and great with food. In this case it was paired with fish soup of a miso/vegetable broth base🥣
-Not super profound. Simply delicious
J. Haart does not make much wine and the demand is high. That makes his wines difficult to source. This is his base wine and it is made and sold in 1000L (a single fuder) allotments. It gives a glimpse of the magic from the higher tiered wines👍

Juicy white peach, rain water, mineral, balanced acidity and just slightly off dry. Spectacular QPR ⚡️😋⚡️😋

There is good reason why Haart already has a cult-like following. This beauty is a touch off dry but the laser beam of acidity perfectly cleanses the palate. Wet stones, apples, lemons, and petrol. If you are lucky enough to grab this at $20, stash a few away!
More info: the 1000L is always sourced from Grand Cru Goldtropfchen vineyard, vines planted in 1996. Vom Boden calls 2019 “legally dry”.
