Earthy, sappy and smokey notes are the defining characteristics of this Auslese, my first time trying this style. Certainly too young but highly aromatic nonetheless, with candied pear, clementine, lime zest, bergamot, exotic spices and doubtless plenty of other things I’m not yet experienced enough to pick up! The palate is lithe and crunchy, not at all sticky and only really medium bodied. It’s gorgeous, and finishes with good length. This will of course age effortlessly, but right now it’s superb with a Goan prawn curry full of coconut milk.
