Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay

Surprisingly open and approachable. Gorgeous pure oyster shell and light lime fruit. A stoniness with lovely oily texture. Great precision and purity. This has a long life ahead and is holding some back but is still drinking very well right now. Very long. Wow

What a fascinating wine. Intense and oily and fresh. Great presence. Some rounded lemon, yellow flowers, mint, white pepper, salinity, slate. Such beautiful mouth feel and balance. Loads of minerality and a soft, driving intensity. This is profound and long and wonderful. As complete a white wine as you could ask for. Wow

Golden. A hint of mint, a whiff of apricot, sweet corn, butter. Wonderful stuff. Rich and a bit of honey, saffron, pear. Rounded and plush. This is just wonderful.

Very rich and robust shows a little heat from the riper vintage . Very good not profound .

Thrilling. Loads of zip and vigor. A hint of struck matchstick and huge, powerful citrus and minerality. Powerful but still light and detailed with thrilling acidity and energy. Wow

Very pure and intense at the front. Piercing spearmint, slatey minerality and punchy lemon notes. Restrained still but incredibly focused and delineated. Still quite tight but sheer class. Masculine, refined and sophisticated.

So, so young. Decanted three hours prior to drinking.

One of the most compelling bottles of white burgundy I’ve had the chance to enjoy. Dense, powerful, flinty, stony citrus and the best kind of wooden integration, simply gorgeous and delicious.

Wonderful but I don’t think it was a perfect bottle of this. Crystalline goodness but was holding something back. 2001 vintage
