The nose is tobacco & cherry laden. The palate opens with juicy notes of blackberry and cassis, and melts into a finish that “leaves its mark”. The varietals in the F8, at first look, would seem to make a wine that rips ones gums free from their teeth. The brilliance of this wine though is the (somehow) thoroughly plush and even delicate mouthfeel it supplies. Given time to breathe, this is one of the most definitive examples of the saying “shaking hands with a giant wearing mittens” that I’ve come across.
