The wines from H. Lignier display so much personality; from their humble Passetoutgrains, to their often life-affirming Clos de la Roche. This is an unusual bottling in that this was produced using fruit from one of the vineyards owned by the Hospital in Nuits-St-Georges. Every year, the hospital contracts with various wineries to produce a wine from their vines which are subsequently auctioned off to benefit the hospital. This particular bottle is from the 1er cru monopole, “Les Didiers”. As for the wine, this is a beautiful example of N-S-G. It remains largely primary today with gorgeous red and black fruits, horse blanket, herbs, flowers, sous bois, and spices. There is wonderful structure and divine, almost chewy texture. Its character seemed to build with air which gives me confidence that well-stored examples will drink well, far beyond 2030.

Sick nose. Floral, juicy, mint, game, cinnamon. Balanced and juicy with huge spice and ridiculous fruit. Stunning.

Stunning and captivating Burgundy, from a tiny lieu dit in Nuit-Saint-Georges near the village proper. Perfect harmony with the structure and acidity of 2008 that should allow this to age effortlessly for many, many more years....like 15-20. The nose is simply off the charts!

Lovey intersection of black cherry fruit, mossy umami earth notes, floral spice aromas, and subtle oak overtones. Loving how the sleekness and elegance coupled with blue collar charm. Palate is sharp and focused, fine and spicy tannins coat the center of the tongue. Beautiful wine that is showing well with 24 hours of air

Great now but still a baby. Impeccably made, this is perfectly balanced front to back. A deep and pronounced perfume nose shows dark red and blue fruits, a touch of meaty aromas, and subtle spice. The palate is medium+ in acidity (but you won't know it unless you look for it) with ripe and silky tannins that firm up on the long finish. Complex and layered, you can tell from the first sip this is top notch #redburgundy
