Wonderful Brut! Perfect balance of dryness and sweet, with great effervescence.

Lots of apple on the nose and palate. Lemon, pear. Wish there were more yeast notes. Lots of acidity.

This Gruet dates back at least to the early 2000s. I was skeptical about its ability to survive, but it ended up being fun. It has lively bubbles and has developed a deep gold-yellow color. The aromas are apples and rich pineapple with something funky going on that brings Brie-on-toasted-brioche to my mind.

Great value, buy 2 or 3 bottles of this instead of 1 heavily marketed Champagne. Your taste buds won't know the difference.
