Syrah from Cote Rotie is so different. It is vibrant clean red fruit. Very balanced with a hint of white pepper and tannins that evolve from when the wine first enters your mouth to when you swallow giving it complexity. Everything is in sync, nothing over bearing. This Syrah was near full body, remained mid mouth, didn’t migrate to your cheeks like a Shiraz. It wasn’t over powering with earthy dark fruit like a Walla Walla Syrah or as alcoholly as a Ca Syrah. So great drinking yet not impactful. Also a bit of an tartaric acid finish. However, brought back fond memories of our visit of the winery back in 2018. Mother and daughter running the small family winery. If I remember correctly only about 10 has of vineyards...in the prestigious Cote Rotie region.
