Was hoping for more development after 10+ years, but this was good with steak and even better night 2. Tangy!

This did NOT suck! Luscious red and blue fruit, lavender essence, brilliant energy/acidity, some exotic spicyness dissolving into some tonal smoky minerality. Moderately long finish. I was not familiar with this producer but let the somm (at a restaurant with JB chops) guide me to something that made wonderful music with a brilliant pork collar feast. 100% Carignan...perhaps my first from Chile. And still a baby...should be even more fantastic in the 2020's.

Made in Maule from a 100% Carignan and vines with an average age of 56 years at 400 feet of elevation. 50 cases imported at a retail price of $50. The Vigno is sourced from two blocks of the Crucecillas vineyard planted in 1958 that are vinified separately and followed by an additional winery selection. The best lots are aged in 3-4 year neutral French oak for 24 months. On the nose; dark currants. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, strawberries, plums and beautiful florals. The body is full with sticky tannins. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, strawberries & plums. Black licorice, dark chocolate, black rich soils, loamy dry top soils with violets & red florals.

Such a lovely carignan from Maule Valley, Chile! Explosive red fruits and parfum, still needs time in bottle to reach its peak!

1 of 4,467 bottles. Brought to me from the Santiago wine club.
Bright alpine Berry nose mixed with morning foglets.

The wine attacks your tongue with spears of sharpness, then relaxes into a unsweetened, unripened stone fruit blend. Gritty tannins take hold of the space between my teeth and gum, and fill it with black tea tannins. At the very last gasp for breath, it exhales earth.
