Soft cork that crumbled upon opening to reveal badly oxidized wine.

Leather, dried black and red fruit, dark cherry, menthol, black tea, American oak, and black pepper. I wouldn’t decant, as it got a bit more stewy as it aired out. I would rate the first taste a 9.1 and the last a sip two hours later an 8.7. Medium plus tannins, medium plus alcohol, and medium plus acid.

Dark fruit with hint of tobacco in the nose. Blackberry, oak and tobacco to start, but then it thins in the middle showing little heft at the end. Moderate tannins and moderate acid help. I'm not sure this wine is aging well. Probably better drunk young.

The best Galante merlot I've tried, the 2014 is big but balanced. Pepper, tobacco, dark fruit and minerals predominate. Chewy tannins but nice acid as well. Tart finish with acid lingering.
