Very clear in colour. Quite muted on the nose, both from the bottle and glass even after decanting. But very delicate and fragrant in its aromatics. Medium to light bodied - lavender, bergamot, white pepper, aniseed, five spice, raspberry, all of which flows through the palate which brims with orange bitters acidity and fine grained tannins. The finish ends with some burnt coffee notes. In his book Beyond Flavour, Nick Jackson notes that Grenache is prone to oxidation quite quickly. I’ve often thought that decanting CNDP does little to improve its aromatics. Is that what he’s touching on? (Not rhetorical - I would welcome answers in the comments!)

Ultimately an elegant, lighter style CNDP. Not dissimilar to pinot noir. High abv is handled well by fresh mouthfeel. Would love to try this at 10-15 years of age.

Happy to see how this has developed. Still has lift and more freshness than some CNDP, but its settled into its own, the balance of acid, alcohol, and tannin and settled in nicely. Strawberry compote, Christmas spice cake, dried lavender, licorice root, black tea, sweet meat, slight hint of beef broth. Seems like another day will unfold more. Surprised with how some of the 2011’s have aged, given how charming and open knit they were on release. Day 2 is another wine, the stoney mineral and spice notes have really came to the front; Allspice Dram, baked rocks, iron, cinnamon and clove. Without the lush fruit the wines structure is way more apparent, its become more rectangular in shape and the higher elevation site seems to come through on the acid and tannin.

Nice but hot and jammy. Definitely prefer more earthy Chateauneufs with vibrant spice, acid and minerality. Grape soda and jammy red grape, hot body with huge tannin.

Strawberry and raspberry fruit leather, fennel, baked earth, there's a burnt/caramelized character. Black cherry/berry, garrigue, medicinal herbs, and spice on the palate. Tannins and acidity bring brightness and focus given the region. Great lift.
