Munjebel Etna Nerello Mascalese

I’ve enjoyed Frank’s wines in the past but this came off as nearly undrinkable. Tons and tons of Brett, very pronounced alcohol, stewy fruit and lacking any sense of balance. I guess it’s always a crapshoot when you vehemently oppose SO2.

This wine makes an immediate impression.

Plush, fruity, with some real smoke. The contrast between the sweetness and smokiness is distinctive.
