Good solids village wine with a decent core of fruit but it still had that core of pork fat on the mid-palate that I generally find off-putting in a lot of Gevrey wines:-&

Excellent old Gevrey. Light bricked plumb juice, but not completely translucent - still a bit of depth there; nose of sour cherries (in a good way), plumb skins, mushrooms, forest floor, and hints of austere spices (cardamom, thyme); still a hint of tannin at the very back, with a fine layer of cider-like acidity running through it (as it should be) - not particularly complex, but very drinkable!
