Super smooth with a grape kool-aid quality. Certainly has a hot and spicy kick, but seems so much more mellow and vanilla than recent years. Horchata spices along with dark fruit make it drink really well right now.

Oct 21st, 2022Fireball spice! Cinnamon and nutmeg, plenty of heat. Also features blackberry, tobacco, and vanilla. A small helping of eucalyptus and licorice. Great density and acidity. Bold.

Post raucous dinner party score with minimal notes: composed and concentrated. Obviously way too young, but delicious and not overly tannic.

Gorgeous and well structured. Still tight. Cellar this one for 10-30 years, it will continue to improve.

Fun bottle. PNP. Needs some time to add complexity. Certainly enjoyable but still somewhat young in the grand scheme.

Wednesday Wine Committee from this past week. A fantastic hosting by @joe leatherwood . 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.
Very good right now and hardly showing any heat. It’s so well balanced and integrated that I called this early ‘80s port. Plethora of baking spices, cherry liqueur, dark cocoa dipped graham cracker, dates and cherry fig. Nice sweetness. In a good window.
