Inky spicy young aromas, young light red fruits. Some smoky cedar notes hide in there if you are really super paying attention. Balanced, not overwhelming tannins is the one shining point for this Monastrell (aka Mourvedre in France.) Monastrell wines were first made in Spanish monasteries, where they acquired their name. They haven’t quite reached iconic Spanish Rioja status of the Tempranillo, but they sometimes make a good showing...unfortunately this one is just a little too young and ripe. Decant for at least 1 hr. Purchase price around $10

Briefly because I'm tired and it's nothing special too - nose is really catchy, but palate is fair but nothing to remember really - just ordinary table wine.

At the Spanish tasting I found this little $9 gem. Bright red cherry color. Big aromas of ripe red fruit. The palate yielded blueberry and raspberry flavors with s touch of spice, very smooth. The wine was well structured and balanced. Easy drinking and enjoyable. Sample.

If I was going off of price I would say 8.6 to 8.7. Solid little monastrell. If you had millions of dollars, and drank this juice, it wouldn't be a disappointment until you found out the price. Then most would scoff at it. Ha
