A full bodied red at 13%, but only with a decant. Think cranberries mixed with lava rock and you’d be close. Given the abv obviously fresh, but such a foundational layer of fine tannins, & it developed in the glass. Just one more feather in the Canary Island cap. Wouldn’t be surprised this still rings bells at age six

Smelled funky, a bit like pee, even, at first, but taste was rich and full of pleasantly sour fruit and distinctly saline mineral. Light to medium bodied. Unique and enjoyable.

Quite reduced at first, with lots of struck match and brimstone funk, but with some air this blossomed into a crunchy lean boysenberry and sour cherry medley mixed with chopped herbs and deeply stony minerality. Great acidity. Taste the volcano mateys! From the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands of Spain, this mostly Listan Prieto (aka Mission or Pais) with a little of Tintillo, red wine is light on the palate and quite refreshing. Sulfur is added only at bottling, otherwise this juice is simply put into old barrels to do its thing.

Good bridge into the latter half of the meal!

Light, tart, very mineral and snappy. Smoke, peppercorn, flowers. Very reductive upon opening, needed lots of aeration. Found sulfide/mercaptan component lingering throughout. On a positive it’s simple, quaffable and cheap, albeit not as exciting as previous wines from Envinate.

not my favorite from Envínate, but still carries Teide terroir beautifully.

Like trousseau and gamay made a baby. Delicious and so fun to drink.

The similarities between Nerello Mascalese are abundant. Listán Negro smells of ash and rocks, tastes of red fruit, and os utterly appealing. Volcanic wines, all day long y’all
