Ruby color with a wide brim and violet accents. An earthy nose starts things off right with some stewed mushrooms, moist soil, and ripe red cherries. This is a pretty big boy for a Merlot and that 14.8 shows up early with a bit of heat but it quickly blows over. Medium to full bodied with nice acidity, there’s not a terrific amount of depth in regards to complexity but you never lose interest in it. This is a Napa Merlot, so of course it’s exceedingly similar to a Cab but that just goes with the territory. Smooth mouthfeel leads to big fruit on the palate. Plums, cherries, and blackberries shine with notes of tobacco, cedar, and minerality. So Cab-like but still a good pour.

Mar 10th, 2019A bit thin, smells of licorice and tastes like burnt baking spices and baked fruit. Full bodied but not the most complex wine out there. Baked fruit, light baking spice, no tannins.
