Black pepper, earth, black fruit, dried flowers. Metal. With Gott's takeout harvest dinner.

Bright red fruit. Fairly straightforward on the palete. Tasty juice with some time ahead of it.

Like a young chateauneuf du pape. Orange peel, lavender, black pepper (does grown on lava give it spice?), leather and soy sauce on the finish

What a serious wine. Still young, but such expressive aromatics. Iron dirt, plum skin, fresh tobacco leaf, iodine. So much to smell. Mouthfeel is somewhat lean, tannins and acid are medium plus. This wine will age gracefully for 15 years. I will try to lay off my remaining bottles as long as I can.

Definitely needs cellaring but the quality shows now. Big, powerful, intense black fruit, smokiness, volcanic soil shows brilliantly. High tannic structure softened after 3 days open. Great acid structure. This is what Aglianico should be.

Big wine with just the right level of tannins and paired perfectly with braised short ribs. Tannins cut through the rich meat. Definitely a little known gem of a wine from off the beaten path in southern Italy.

Prunes, blackberries, dark earth, dried grasses. Tannin+, acidity+, I'd let this sit another 3-5 years

Put back in the cellar. Lots of potential but too raw and powerful at the moment to really enjoy IMHO.

Tobacco, dry rose, potpourri, mature crabapple, lingonberry (seriously), iron, some sweet spice like licorice, black tea. This 2012 is a bit closed, but still nice. Needs to be paired with food, I'd try grilled ribeye, pasta alla Norma. Korean short ribs would be perfect. Complex and beautiful.
