Great example of QPR to be found in Douro red table wines.
Musky black cherry and plum backed with subtle cake spices, all on a generous frame with good balancing acidity. Friday night special extraordinaire. 2010

This Portuguese wine comes on strong and savory. Almost black in the glass, it has a leathery nose of dark fruit and tobacco. The palate is rustic, bursting with blackberry, plum and wild berries. Savory notes also dance across the tongue. The tannic structure is somewhat soft and the finish is medium long.

Haved loved this #wine from #portugal for years and it never disappoints.

Practically opaque, oily color to the rim with dark purple tones. Chalk, a little bacon fat & smoke. High boysenberry top note with seed.

Dark and rich berries, grapey edges, delicate incorporated tannins. Smooth.

Beautiful acid and layered red fruits with a slight tomato leaf quality in the background. Fairly lite and elegant.

Great now, but better a day later. Layered and structured, with a dark heart. Stony grape and turmeric notes in a sandy dark chocolate black plum skins slurry that broods. Med-heavy mouthfeel with a really lovely black grape, pepper and graphite toasty interplay. Kudos for producing a wine of this calibre in this price range! Finishes with fine grained tannins, dry, and pronounced but not lingering, but what more can this wine give you at this price point? Delivers and raises the bar! Abragado!
