This white dessert wine has a most beautiful, rich-looking copper color. The nose is just as enticing, with big aromas of orange candy and dried apricots. The palate is a sheer delight. It is sweet enough to be dessert on its own, but has enough acidity to pair with your favorite after-dinner sweets or a selection of cheeses. It is pricy, but it is an experience that can be savored.

The 2017 Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé is deeply alluring and layered, mixing a rich display of dried mangoes, apricots and figs with lifting notes of dusty flowers, citrus peels, and cardamom. It's silky in texture, achieving a contrasting balance of salinity and sweetness, and showing grilled pineapple, peach nectar, clove, and honey. Tart orange-infused oily textures linger incredibly long, along with a salty note of toffee and exotic spice. The 2017 doesn’t have the glycerol weight of some of the best vintages, yet makes up for it with loads of character. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021)

Really enjoyable. Rose petals and candied Orange on the nose. The palate is clean with enough acidity to not be cloying. Sweet Apricot preserves on the finish.

Intensely grapey not in a bad way, sweet rose water, lychee candy, (alcohol burns my nose,) chalky minerality, hints of VA, honey, marzipan. Medium+ finish, lusciously sweet, medium+ acidity.

After the Italian wine earlier in the night, why not finish the meal with an Italian night cap! I had the ‘15 a few weeks back and thought it was one of the best dessert wines I’ve had in recent memory.

In comparison to the ‘15, this seemed quite oxidized. More so than expected. Darker in color with a sherry like color, losing its typical gold color. Aromatically, they were almost the same...roasted and honeyed pineapple, apricot preserve and honeycomb. On the palate though, it was more nutty and caramelized cherries jubilee. Very good, but not as impressive as the ‘15.

Jack & Arden put together a wonderful evening of delicious food and great wines, and a few of us attendees contributed some bottles to enjoy as well. Great night!

My contribution. Wow! The aromatics here are some of the most intoxicating I’ve come across. Ripe pineapple bathed in honey butter, apricot preserves, orange marmalade and honeycomb. Light on the palate with zippy acidity. Fantastic!

Concentrated and intense and creamy, ripe nectarine, peach pith, honeysuckle. Terrific wine and I always say I would never believe how high alcohol.
