Taurasi Aglianico
Bachelor's night. Lasagna and Aglianico! Here's to my great great grandparents who came from Avellino! Some barnyard nose with the clay soiliness, almost petrol. Medium plus acidity, medium tannins. A long over due departure from the mainstream. Makes me want to get drunk and pick pockets in Napoli. Well, ok maybe not, but I should get crazy and put some real dough on UMBC--- the only of my 3 alma maters (PhD) that remain in the tourney!!!

First taste: Black raspberry, wild herbs, dark olives, and fine pumice. Approximately 120 minutes later: Silkier black raspberry with red plum; herbs and dark olives more prominent. Very nice. Note that Delectable incorrectly identifies the region despite it being most prominently visible on the label, Taurasi (in Campania), arguably the best region for Aglianico.
