Concentrated, intoxicating aromas of cured meats, brambly blackberry, bacon fat and cracked pepper assault the nostrils. The plush mouth is flooded with blackberry liqueur flavors that linger for over a minute on the intense finish.

Dec 29th, 2014From my absolute favorite Syrah vineyard, the inky ruby '08 Donelan Syrah 'Obsidian Vineyard' exceeded my already high expectations. Huge aromas of black licorice, jammy blackberries, menthol and BBQ smoke jump from the glass. The sweetness of the powerful fruit flavors is overwhelming, but in a exotic liqueur-like manner. Big soft tannins and a long persistence finish. Sexy!
