Lalama Ribeira Sacra Mencía

Still one of my favorite Mencias. Plush and round with wild red and blue fruits, cedar, and an earthy undertone. Like Gamay and Cab Franc had a baby. Needs ample air to show all of its charm.

I will always love this wine. Black pepper, crushed berries, stones, and herbs. Reminds me of good Cru Beaujolais but with some grip. Magical Mencia.

This is particularly beautiful and well-crafted as well as quite Burgundian. All of the typical floral and high toned red fruits of the region, but with a bit of manure and damp mushrooms. The fruit is sweet and sappy framed by firm muscular tannins and accented with intense minerality and white pepper. Energetic, focused and multi-layered. Highly recommended for Mencía and Burgundy fans.

Not the best example from this region. Although fresh and minerally and interesting on the nose, it is one dimensional to the tongue-touch and taste.

Really shines with some air. Structured Mencia that offers a lot of wine for the money. Ripe, smooth berries with a touch of earth and great acidic balance.

Med body with bright red cherry and red berries notes with hint of red flower floral notes. Well balanced made. Med plus acidity, med to med plus tannin. A wonderful mencia to start with some tapas and pinxos.

Light, red fruit driven with mushrooms, cured meats, and black pepper.

Gorgeous red fruit, flowers and herbs ( especially dill), damp clay!! So god damn good

Very closed at first, needed decanting. Then herbaceous notes, wet leaves and sour cherries. In the palate is fresh, long and clean. Good structure and striking acidity.
