Nose is cherry liquer, lavender, herbs, game, some heat and crushed stones. Palate is rich and ripe with some heat and lovely juicy, cassis and cherry fruit. Sappy and dense with elegant but substantial chalky tannins. Serious body on this wine and a long finish. Some chocolate/mocha notes on the finish now.

Jan 13th, 2024My favorite CDP. I’m also a CDP hater, so take it with a grain of salt. Nose is feral and awesome. Cherry liquer, cassis, herbs, wet earth, dried hay, just such a full spectrum of CDP herbs. So classic and old school. Love the classicism of 14. Ah yea, this is just so pure, so focused and laser like in its precision. Juicy and wonderful silky tannins. Long finish and substantial structure to ensure long aging. Wow this is long. Just a stunning wine. Wow. This is so good.

May 13th, 2022Nose is a bit barnyardy. Some red fruits and lovely herbs de Provence. Cassis big time. Ripe but very complex. Barnyard starts to integrate after some air. Then some lovey rocky minerality develops. Exquisite palate and balance. Such purity and depth and only a skoche of heat. Really classy stuff. Such finesse here. Big, drying but ripe tannins and fine length. Just a tremendous wine. Superb concentration and tiny berry fruit intensity. Always so impressive.
After some time this gains in elegance and goes from 9.4 to 9.5. It’s brilliant how well this wine carries its 15%.

Love this wine. The Gonon of CDP. Herbs, kirsch, barnyard but so so so good. Like Barnyard by Chanel. Lavender. Floral. So complex. Palate is balanced and some heat peeks out (15%) but pure and long. Sappy red fruits, elegant and long. Concentrated with kirsch liquer and loads of minerality. Excellent. Really juicy and so loose.

Jun 30th, 2020Lovely candied cherries and spice on the nose. Deep and luxurious with lovely purity and such a sense of depth. Palate is tight but balanced and very pure. Juicy feel and sweet fruit and structured with huge stoney depth. This needs an hour. Will come back to this but it’s all there.

This was massive and a bit spirity. Loads of heat showing through and an intense macerated dark berry character. It cut through a rich stew tho.

Barnyard nose, horse stable, prune plum, and stinky, savory, somewhat muted fruit nose. Palate is great though with tart cherry juice, stern tannins and a lot of acid on the palate. Definitely an enjoyable bottle with the right food.
Nice mocha notes coming across on day 3+.

May 20th, 2017Overtly rich, decadent nose. Oozingly ripe red berries, booze-soaked fruitcake, orange peel, and some background minerality. Huge body, mouthfillingly rich, and a bit hot in the finish. Low acids and not particularly complex but ready to smack you in the mouth right now. Drink now if you're man enough.
