Domaine Lafouge (Jean et Gilles Lafouge)
Les Duresses Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Gorgeous bouquet--no joke, nosed the thing for like 20 minutes before taking a sip. Palate a bit astringent and disjointed though, second half of the bottle better after a day of slow ox in the fridge

Aug 5th, 2016Oh man, silky mouth feel, then the tannins grip and release to a mouth watering juicy finish. Smelled cherry, earth and maybe even olive in the glass. This is beautiful. The wine shop I bought it from said to decant well in advance or open the day before. I poured it into glasses about 8 hours before drinking.

Jan 17th, 2016Friday afternoon at the office. Better in a few years.

Sep 11th, 2015I have to stop myself from blabbing about Lafouge every time people complain they can't find great Burgundy for cheap. This one's textbook Lafouge, vibrant with the energy of a Beaujolais. At first the tannin shows itself with a somewhat greyish cast but it melts away quickly and after a little bit it's barely perceptible at all except as the thinnest lace.
