Pithos Bianco Terre Siciliane Grecanico

Delicious funky orange Italian wine. Some grassy elements amid orange peel. Chalky at times. Almost refreshing, but with just enough complexity to hold you back so you can enjoy sipping rather than devouring.

My first orange wine, and an Italian one to boot.. and a really cool one at that, but I honestly just don't know what to think about the presence of tannins in a white wine.. my puzzler is puzzled, as Dr. Suess would say. Minerality and funky overripe apricot abound on the nose with a tannic attack on the palate, balanced by some peach, mandarin, and "cellar room funk." Pretty cool stuff - I can see why people are trying to hunt this stuff down.

Holy tannin Batman! This white wine has grip, it also has nice apricot pith, underripe peach, and lemon pith, great texture as well.

Dried apricot, mango, and tea leaves. Quite full on the palate with a good amount of tannins from the extended skin contact. Nicely done!

A lot going on; yellow peach skin, persimmon, dry cider, saffron, Ceylon tea...

Interesting with raw shrimp marinated in syracusan lemon

A very unusual wine. Certainly unique flavour.. like the other orange wine I’ve had, almost something cider-like about it. Slightly oaky, minerally.

darker orange wine. clean and serious-tasting w a pleasant bitterness

Very interesting orange wine from Sicily. Floral notes followed by white stone fruits. Not much acid but drinks delightfully.
