2020 September. I approached this with some trepidation as the last bottle (opened a few years back) was hard, tart and weedy. I find some reactions to the 2004 vintage character overblown, but this wine had lived down to the stereotype. This bottle, though, was different - the greenness had melted into a rather open, fairly complex and rich wine which more than hinted at its origins. Dark berries, spice, game, etc. So perhaps that mean green thing was just a very long and very awkward middle phase after all. I have one more bottle, and it’ll be very interesting to see where this ends up in a several more years. I’d say the same for my other remaining 2004s.

Sep 20th, 2020Was not the best bottle we had, but really good indeed and with the tell tale spices from Vosne. Medium length, polished and balanced wine in a delicate register.
