It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

This is a very nice 12 year old Merlot blend from Bordeaux.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Showing black fruits with earth, wood, spices, peppercorn, dark chocolates, coffee, wet leaves and herbs.

Nice finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

Needs time to open up properly, so be patient with it. I've had it before, and this time I gave it 4 hours.

Drinking nicely now and will be good in the next 10 years.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$40.

Deep Inky in color with a short brick rim.

On the nose cooked plums, currants, oak, spices, vanilla, licorice, cloves, wild flowers, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, earth, tobacco leaf and herbs.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruity, with black plums, currants, oak, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, earth, herbs and peppercorn.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Merlot blend from Pomerol.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime.

This 12 year old from the great 2009 vintage, is showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

I've had it many times before, and it is very consistent. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

A great price point, if you can find the 2015 or 2016, and keep it for a while.

Thank you Wendy for sharing this with me.

A great wine to pair with food, and paired wonderfully with smoked beef brisket.

A blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
