Light clear ruby with thin edges and cherry red accents. Highly expressive nose that kicks off with the customary deep cherry aromas. Wild strawberry and minerality shine pretty brightly here. Musky earthy scents compliment the red fruit and finishes with fresh herbs and spices.
Quintessentially Willamette Valley, this is one of the more approachable renditions of Pinot that I’ve tasted in a while. Not a lightweight, sleek Pinot at all this has some heft and funk-lite to it. There’s an innate slight musky streak running throughout that I just can’t get enough of. Just a tad bit ethereal but it doesn’t sacrifice on power.
On the palate, you’ll find some wonderfully subdued strawberry and cocoa powder. Dried mushrooms and more of that beautiful earthy funk really amplify things. A Pinot that drinks like a Pinot, instead of a weird Syrah. Really nice stuff.
