A dense and intense wine that has is full throttle. Very dark and tasty, if a little rustic.

4.3/5 1984 it has been open for about two weeks with Vacuvan and needed an extra week of the two to completely open up. It has a lovely baked fruit nose now without any smell of excess aging, but slightly less flowery, with a full, slightly sweet complex body & a nice medium to long length aftertaste.

We decanted this magnum an hour before dinner. Dark purple and ruby with a slight tint of brown at edge. Bouquet of cedar, leather and dark fruit. Very well balanced, the wine showed good fruit that continued to open and evolve over 4 hours. Jammy fruit of dark berry, solid tannins provided structure and a long pleasant finish of mature cab. The wine was at or near it’s peak but probably could have lasted 5 years or more. A lovely accompaniment to beef tenderloin.

Excellent wine. Crumbly cork so had to decant and get the cork bits out. Trying it at home did not think much of it but after decanting a few times and using an aerator at the restaurant it opened up and was big and rich with a lot of black fruits and some leather. Drinking great and think I paid under $20 back in the day. One bottle left an 1982 and will have that one shortly.
