Monthly wine group met up and had an Italian wine night at one of the local Italian BYOB spots. Really fantastic Italian wines were brought, as well as some random bottles that were outside the theme (but worthy of opening regardless of theme).

Leave it to
@Benjamin Keator to bring something like this! Geez, what a wine. My first Diamond Creek. Fruit very much still there (blackberries, plum, cocoa dusted dates, leather) surrounded by clay notes. Still retaining some structure and while its peak is behind it, this is most definitely still incredibly enjoyable. Great finish on this wine. Bravo, Ben.

Glorious deep dark cherry and warm menthol nose. First sip was a little thin but I think that was the previous glass of Kongsgaard in my mouth muting the fruit. This was fantastic. One of the best DCs I've had. Sandalwood, forest floor, dark currant core.

Simply stunning! At its prime! They don't make wines like this any more. Tobacco, dried fruit, herbs and leather. So pretty!

What a monumental wine! Everything is in perfect balance. Almost arrogant, this wine is opulent with torrent of aroma spinning the wheel: fig like jam, cinnamon, clove, blond tobacco, all perfectly defined.
Damn this is superb! Absolute must buy

Heavy up on the gravel, but no shortage of fruity meadow. So good.

Tight acid. Beautiful deep ruby. Truly gravelly. Gorgeous. Probably the best wine I have ever had.

Amazing how these wines can hold up over time. Very consistent with much younger vintages. The usual DC minerality with plenty of blue fruits. Medium body and finish. So good! Apologies for the lame internet pic.
