Diamond Creek Vineyards
Gravelly Meadow Cabernet Sauvignon

From decanter and contributed by a late arriver....so I’m not sure of how long it was open, but this was petulant. Just so youthful and stubborn.

This was my WOTF among impressive company. Profound rocky soiled pleasures on full tilt. Amber edges and just so round, lush and full from jump. Blackberry kirsch and cassis. Softening tannins but this wine has the stuffing to be a 50+ year wine IMO. Profound in its aged intensity. An exceptional special wine. Big ups to @Shawn R for this one.

Mostly opaque. Dark purple-ish tawny. Distinctive nose; ripe cherry, hickory, spice, some rhubarb and a little flower scent. Decent balance in the mouth with fruit and some remaining structure. Declined in performance with 2+ hours of air. Decent juice but drink up.

Best part of coming home - raiding dad’s cellar. As usual these wines hold up as well as anything - 37 years later this wine rules.

Monthly wine group met up and had an Italian wine night at one of the local Italian BYOB spots. Really fantastic Italian wines were brought, as well as some random bottles that were outside the theme (but worthy of opening regardless of theme).
Leave it to @Benjamin Keator to bring something like this! Geez, what a wine. My first Diamond Creek. Fruit very much still there (blackberries, plum, cocoa dusted dates, leather) surrounded by clay notes. Still retaining some structure and while its peak is behind it, this is most definitely still incredibly enjoyable. Great finish on this wine. Bravo, Ben.

WOW! Earthy and elegant nose. Tobacco, red fruit, plum. Nice mature California cab. Wow, just wow. Cranberry, blackberry, leather, mushroom, spice. So elegant. Everything elegant and complex that Napa Cab can be.
