This deep, dark Grenache blend shows a bit of savory funk on the nose, with black olives, meat and tobacco coming through. The palate has cherry and dark berry flavors, along with chalky, earthy notes. The mouthfeel is full andcrefreshing, with enough tannic structure to handle a steak, or any other meat dish. The finish lingers awhile, which is a pleasure.

Definitely has the nose of a higher quality wine. But a bit sharp in the aromas. And a little paint smell. Fruity, hot. Sweet with a little bitter finish. Very powerful and smacks you. A little of oxidation on the night. More noticeable on the 2nd and obvious on the third. It was too sweet to go with the goulash. Should have stuck to the recommendation and had lamb or fatty, salty red meats. Next time I would decant for 2+ hrs. Would try again.

This was a French grenache made for the American palate. The 15.2% ABV was obvious right off the bat. On the nose, alcohol. And some spice, dark fruit, and cocoa. On the palate, the same. In short, I didn't care for it. The alcohol overpowered the fruit, which itself seemed too jammy and ripe. Flabby. 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and the rest a blend of Carignane and Mourvèdre. 7/13/22.

As expected, this just wasn’t my thing. Overcooked, raisiny, flabby, and HOT at 15%+ abv. Despite that, I can see where some folks would love this high octane Phinney style, and more power to them.

2015. Big dark fruit, big alcohol, nice level of acidity and tannin. Great pairing with a hearty beef and mushroom stew with black olive sourdough.
