Las Cruces Single Vineyard Valle del Cachapoal Old Vines Field Blend
In Chile's central valley S of Santiago and W of the Andes, the Cachapoal area produces well-regarded wines like this one made from old ungrafted stocks of Malbec and Carmenére. Dark purple inky in color and with a watery viscosity, the nose is full of blueberries, plums, minerals (metals?), baking spices and earthy notes; the taste is fruity and jammy, and with nice smooth tannins, but a watery diluted character with low acids creates an overall disjointed impression.
