Lots of old mahogany furniture and macerated cherry on the nose. Still deep fruit on the nose, tannins resolving, it’s got a nice amalgamation of the transparency of Nebbiolo and the wininess and bluntness of the other grapes blended with it (Bonarda, Vespolina).

Dec 26th, 2022Medium intensity nose features macerated cherries, spice, and gravel. Tight and tannic in the mouth, very youthful, but still enjoyable with a meal. Better in 5.

Sour red cherries, but fruit still ever present, back tea, high tannins, med plus acid. Perfect last nite with lasagna and an outdoor fire..finished the bottle myself! Good price too..

Sep 23rd, 2018Rustic Nebbiolo (Spanna in the Novarese area). Intense nose has a bit of VA, loads of fresh-turned gravel, a little bit of barnyard, all to go with deep macerated cherry fruit. Intensely flavored, with loads of puckery (but not harsh) cheek-coating tannin. Very rustic and long.

Very aromatic. Quite balance and silky. Floral and a good fruit. Very nice. Tannin still very grippy and drank too early

Genuine wine with lots of energy and transparency but the 2014 version seems bit lacking in presence, although with lots of substance. Carlone’s wines feel exceedingly pure without being over-polished.

Oct 24th, 2019Barolo like, very good! Cherry, dried herbs, and volcanic rock. Can easily go several more years too so no rush but is drinking well right now.
