When Clos du Bois was founded in 1974, Sonoma County was better known for its prunes, walnuts and dairy farms than for its wine grapes. Dark ruby with aromas of black fruit with spicy herb notes. On the palate black cherry and blackberry flavors with toasty oak, cacao and some sweet spice. This full body wine had soft tannins and finished with earthy toasty oak. Good value!

Not my fav. It was big up front but thinned out quickly and was herbaceous in not a great way, at least as far as my tastebuds were concerned.

Aromas of black cherry, blueberry, chocolate, vanilla and toast. Ripe cherry, underripe blueberry and black currant on palate with spice box notes, a little hot almost upon opening.

Nose was wonderful, but the palate was thin and lackluster.

It's in solid shape. Dark chocolate & mocha powder influenced; blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, strawberries, plums, just a whiff of green bell peppers & jalapeño, crushed brown volcanic rocks, mushroom, steely minerals, dry stems, decayed floral bouquet, fudge w/ nuts, orange peel, chocolate pudding, rich semi-sweet black turned earth, dry stones, vanilla, light spice-box, grilled meats, cigar, used leather, steeped tea, brewed dark roast coffee, anise, toffee, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, brilliant acidity, great; balance, tension, length, structure with a round, lush, full evenly mixed blend of all of the above on the long finish. Crazy, complex, every changing in the mouth beautiful Merlot. What was Paul talking about in Sideways? I'm thinking Mediterranean prepared Lamb Shank pairing. Oh...what were you doing in 1996?

Nice. An older world style. Earth-driven.
