Nov 29th, 2015Drinking better on day two, although it wasn't terrible day one. The strong pasture notes have mellowed allowing more red fruit and dark earth to show through on the nose (also a bit of black pepper). One of the grapes in this blend - I'm really not familiar with any of them - definitely displays similar notes to a Zinfandel: black cherries, raisins, black pepper, vanilla finish. But it's a bit more agressive, especially in the tannins, with a sweep of dusty earth and other flavors reminiscent of a Spanish red.

I under-decanted this. Be sure to give it time to open up. Lots of unique character once it does.

Give this a long decant or lay it down a few years. Needs a nice piece of grilled meat. Lots of stewed dark fruits with some smoke

Deep purple in color. Bold wine with aroma of dark fruit, chocolate, spice, and incense, balanced by good acidity and freshness, finished with firm tanning. Need time to open up.
