Very very close to the color of squid ink.

Lovely is a barnyard nose from a bottle of Syrah.
Heavy bodied, hefty. Black currant, arugula, dark dehydrated plums, chocolate mint.
A slurry of unique flavors, with a honed, focused acidity straight through the back end, and into oblivion.

Big bold fruit! This was still pretty high in tannins and felt like it had pretty high ABV. this has some backbone to it carry it some more years.

If only the oak and ripeness (and alc) were more restrained, with a commensurate increase in acidity, this would be a great wine instead of just a "meh" wine.

Best wine of the evening, and a great way to cap off a visit by the Stewarts
