1990 vintage. Not in the same league as the recent vintages, but a nice, fully mature, slightly rustic Pessac-Léognan.

2009 vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon (59%), Merlot ( 38 %) and Petit Verdot (3%). The Belgian Bonnie family purchased this cru classé in 1997 and invested heavily to improve the quality. This 2009 is an outstanding effort, with cassis, blackberries, spices and cigar box fighting for your attention. In the mouth it is dense, with layers of very ripe ( but not jammy) black fruits, powerful, yet smooth tannins, and a very long finish with typical Pessac-Léognan spiciness. Abv. 14%. Highly seductive now, but no hurry to drink this.

On the nose.... strawberry cheesecake with a cinnamon graham crust... Without sugar of course. On the palate, expressive red fruit, spices, cedar, vanilla, and mint with a beautiful mouth feel. Medium plus alcohol with medium plus tannins-that are already softened, super long finish. I have zero doubt that this wine will improve for at least a decade. Very tempted.to cellar a case or more of this.

The second wine we had for our Thanksgiving dinner was the 2018 Chateau Malartic Lagrviére. This is from Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, herbs, cedar, cigar box, crushed gravel and rich earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, stewed black plum, licorice, black currant, dry gravel and earth.

This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium+ to high grippy mouthcoating tannins that lead into a long black fruit woodsy earthy finish. We did have a third wine for dinner but it was a wine I had rated a few days back that finished the night off just right. Continued good health and safety to each and every one of you. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Insert the usual refrain about how Bdx blanc doesn’t get enough props. This had really nice cut with lemon, tangerine, lychee, dried grass and a nice dollop of vanilla bean and butter on the back

Wonderfully aromatic with lemon curd, tropical guava and lime skin. Voluptuous and showing some oak but excellent acidity shines through. Give it a couple years

The nose shows mineral-infused red berry fruit with hints of sweet spice, wild herbs and rosy florals. On the palate, silky, caressing textures, nearly enveloped the 2015 Malartic Lagraviere's fine tannic structure, ushering in ripe red and blue fruits, contrasted by nervy acids creating a juicy yet tactile feel. The finish is long with a coating of tart wild berries slowly fading as hints of residual acids fizzle out, leaving a youthfully structured expression.

Good, but unfortunately the weakest of the BDX lineup. I expected slightly more oomph. But then again, the fill was vhs when it should have been ts given the age.
