Dark berry, a little dark chocolate. A little cedar, fox, black currant. Library smells. Bright acid and rustic tannins, paired with such a lovely Margaux elegance and lightness. Really classic bottle of wine.

Beautiful wine to celebrate our 24th. Lush soft tannins and solid acid went great with the dry aged rib eye and early Fall Chanterelles. Opened up nicely over 3 hours in decanter. Lovely soft dusky leather and wild rose with wafts of bell pepper

The right order with our Porterhouses. Still has the Margaux elegance presence but, lacks the quality of fruit & characteristics of the 06 Rauzan-Segla.

Not the best vintage I’ve had from Lascombes. Interesting as this was a warm vintage. All my previous 2003’s have shown bright, ripe fruit. The fruits were dull & lacked freshness which, is very different than the other 03’s I’ve had to this point. I don’t know if the staff trimmed too much canopy and the fruit got too much heat and UV light, therefore losing freshness along with a lack of water during the season.

This will still drink well for another 5-8 years before it declines. Our Porterhouses helped contribute to a better experience masking some of its shortcomings.

The wine showed dull, dark fruit with more earthiness than expected given its evolution from its bottle age. Dry soil & clay, stones, dry forest floor, dry tobacco, used leather and withering & dark flowers. The acidity was pleasant but not up to par. The finish lacked Margaux beauty but, it did pop up here and there. Just no consistency. The fruit was flat and lots of dry earth on the long set. Not bad just no up to what I expect from Lascombes and the vintage.

Good amount of sediment. Still a deep concentration with some slight bricking on the rim. Nose shows red and black fruit and some woody, stemmy notes. Not an egregious amount of musk, but not exactly fresh either. Palate showing tart red fruit: focused, ethereal. Heavy purple flowers: lilac. Light in weight, heavy in perfume

This was a nice surprise pour from the table next to us at dinner last night. @Sofia Jalilie there are worst surprises on your birthday than an 82 Bordeaux. 👍🍷 Happy Birthday to you!

Another Wednesday Wine Committee in the books. Great hosting by @Bill Makens . 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine all served blind.

Textbook. Everything about this screamed Bordeaux. Oiled leather wrapped currant, underripe blackberries, licorice and herbal spice aromatics. Less powerful than I expected on the palate, but nimble and clean. Mocha, charcoal, dark fruit and chewy tannins. I called this late ‘00s left bank Bordeaux.

From Magnum. Surprised this was so good. Lascombe was have some issues back then, but this certainly matured well. Smokey and earthy with some forest floor, but fruit still present.

Deep garnet red with brick edges. Layered and aged nose coated in dried cherries, truffles, damp forest floor, wet tobacco, and some light baking spices. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and acidity with a medium body. Delicious and well balanced palate with red cherries, dried currants, tobacco, earthiness and leather. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2025.
