A dark inky purple garnet color. Floral and blackberry scents immediately delight with some notes of anise chocolate-cream brûlée and lingering mint—a beautiful nose! Full of flavor and an elegant rich structure. A dark cherry fruit sweetness hits the pallet, but then the charcoal, cedar-wood and cocoa notes lead to a dry pepper spice finish. The firm tannins definitely makes this wine needing more age so the flavors develop and integrate with the tannins. Brought back memories of our visit to Bordeaux in 2012 where we had the privilege to drink this vintage straight from the barrel. What a treat! Looking forward to see how this wine opens up throughput the evening.
