The 2016 Cantenac Brown is a super-concentrated, potent Margaux. Raspberry jam, mocha, licorice, plum, new oak and spice are all lavishly rendered. Broad and sweeping on the palate, with tremendous richness and resonance, Cantenac Brown is one of the bigger, more overt Margauxs of the vintage. Readers should expect a big, ripe wine. In several tastings, the 2016 has come across as a bit over the top, at least for my personal taste. Technical Director Jose Sanfins gave the 2016 16 months in oak, 60% new. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2019)

Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami.  All wines from the 2016 Vintage.

Tasting pour, no formal notes taken.  Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together.  Many will likely improve a few points with time.

Slightly preferred this over the Brane-Cantenac

2018 - Long decant didn’t do much to give this much character or depth. It’s still about 5 years too early. Let this age
