Another killer Wednesday Wine Committee lineup. As always, 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind.

I called this late ‘80s left bank Bordeaux. Plenty of ripe fruit left here, mainly older raspberry and blackberries, with herbal spice up front and a black pepper dusted cranberry finish.

Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami.  All wines from the 2016 Vintage.

Tasting pour, no formal notes taken.  Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together.  Many will likely improve a few points with time.

Slightly preferred this over the Brane-Cantenac

Cork barely survived, but this wine held up...fruit pretty non existent, secondary aromas of earth, mushrooms, leather..acid holding together with smooth tannins. A great treat. Magnum.

1/2 bottle of '06 for my wedding anniversary at Bouchon Bistro. Coincidentally, it was also Thomas Keller's birthday, AND the 20th anniversary of Bouchon Bistro being open - meant to be! 06 is drinking very nicely.. black cherry balsamic reduction, stewed black plums, decayed purple flower petals, velvety and grainy tannins, beautiful mouthfeel.

Might be the single most amazing wine I've ever had

Should have decanted this for 2 hours prior - way too young and clunky right now - a wall of tannins smothers any fruit but this has real potential - soy sauce and damp earth

Crimson and black center. Classic nose of black cherry and tar. Tannic and young yet graceful with black, blue, and red fruits. Nice mouthfeel and good value. $69.89
