Château Cantebau
Château Dauzac Grand Cru Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
#AgedWineTuesday.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish/ brick rim.
Nice nose of blueberries, black currants, black cherries, wood, vanilla, chocolates, dark coffee, spices, pencil lead, tobacco and black pepper.
Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with currants, plums, cooked cherries, blueberries, wood, earth, licorice, spices, coffee, cola, pencil lead, peppercorn, leather and herbs.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 12 year old red Bordeaux is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced and fruit forward, with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. I really liked the nose, and kept smelling on it for a while.
This Fifth Growth Bordeaux from the great 2009 vintage, is drinking very nicely all by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.
Needed a few hours of airtime, I gave it 3 hours. Delicious once it opens up, so please be patient.
Robert Parker 92 points. Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.
Tasty, rich and flavorful, and good with food too. I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot.
13% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$90.

Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami. All wines from the 2016 Vintage.
Tasting pour, no formal notes taken. Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together. Many will likely improve a few points with time.
This estate seems to be making some strides as of late. Nice.

Aug 7th, 2017Açaí, plum, vanilla and a hint of lavender on the nose. Açaí controls the palate, but the heavy tannins are a little too aggressive at this stage. Revisit in another 10 years to see progression.

Explosive concentration with a classic old-word oak flavor with dried fruit sweetness banging its way through to your palette. This is still very young. Can't image what be in 15 years on. Well worth the $60.

2 people found it helpfulApr 11th, 2013The finish on this wine is perhaps the most interesting of any I have ever had. The nose is moderate at best with forest floor, black currant, mushroom and a bit more brett than I might otherwise like. Incredibly silky on the palate with similar profile as the nose but much more pronounced. Then there is the finish. The tannins start to grab you and dry your palate only to release it and dissolve away into a juicy, long, delicious mouthwatering finish with blackberry and mushroom.
