You know when it's pretty late and everyone is debating whether to open another bottle or go to bed? Then finally the "I guess we'll open another" statement is made. Well this is the type of bottle that is opened that night.

Meh, tastes like Smokey grill scrapings. Not the worst but not good.

This 2014 vintage began its decline being too old to drink. Generally impressed with castle rocks value priced wines but this one was turning. Bummer! Dumped all but a few sips.

It’s still a decent sipper in January. Checks plenty of Pinot Noir boxes.

Smooth, very little sweetness, an interesting mineral funkiness in the finish

Definite fruit forward nose. Strawberry jam and canned black cherries. Slight licorice or black peppercorn in there. Light classic rose-petal-color in the glass. Tart and a hint sweet on the palate. Dusty hot cocoa and more of the peppery anise or licorice thing from the nose. Juicy and fruity for Pinot, but has the density and weight I like in my CA Pinot’s as well. Fairly simple, but a nice sipper on a Tuesday in January.
