I have a suspicion this bottle might have been cooked somewhere along its 25-year journey from the store to my table. It's definitely delicious after 3+ hours in decanter, tannins are integrated and hold up the structure well, the palate is very satisfied with dried plums, crushed flowers, some old-school drugstore aromas and licorice. But the nose's just kept giving me red flags — it's overly hot, alcoholic, with definite metallic dominant to it. I really don't know. Might have been an off bottle, might have been a bad vintage (it wasn't) — in the end we still enjoyed the wine and that's what counts.
