Definitely old school in style. Lean, structured. Nose has zingy ripe/sour cherry, lots of minerally gravel. Savory, high acid, and some uncompromisingly sour cherry fruit in the mouth. Tannins soft. Calls out for a meaty ragu. Will tenderize a bit over the next couple of years.

UPDATE: After 48 hours under a vacuum closure, it’s softer, rounder, and more gravelly/minerally than spite cherry. Upping from a 8.9 to a 9.0.

What a lovely smooth Chianti it goes very well with grilled pork on an open fire.
