I suppose since this is Castello di Ama I shouldn’t be surprised it’s very good. Gobs of ripe fruit and freshness on the nose, with a nice crushed rock background. In the mouth, it’s dry, fresh as heck, and has good concentration and balance. Totally dry. Phenomenal with Chinese takeout on a warm evening.

The 2021 Purple Rose is layered, bright and expressive, with soft contours wrapped around a core of brisk Sangiovese fruit. Pretty floral accents lift the finish. All the elements are so nicely balanced in this creamy, tasty Rosato from Castello di Ama. $25.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2022)

Ama’s 2018 Purple Rose is a saignée of Sangiovese fermented partly in a combination of steel and oak (30%). Rich and textured, with lovely depth, the 2018 is silky, perfumed and light on its feet. It has more than enough complexity and depth to drink well with a wide range of foods. $22.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2019)

Castello di Ama’s Purple Rose is gorgeous. Ample and radiant on the palate, with lovely silkiness, the 2017 Purple Rose is a serious wine endowed with tons of textural depth. Blood orange, star anise, crushed rose petals and mint add an attractive hint of exoticism. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2018)

Year in year out this is one of the top Rosatos in Italy. Fruit, structure to stand food but lacking all notes of heaviness thus provides as much pleasure just on its own. Excellent

A wine of true pedigree, Castello di Ama's 2014 Rosato impresses for is its layered, silky personality and fabulous balance. Floral notes meld into expressive, red-fleshed fruit as this refined, beautifully resonant Rose shows off its inimitable class. (AG)

One of the best rose I've tried. Very fresh and balanced, red fruits and roses. Nice acidity
