Deep Bing cherry red in color. Butter and red fruit in nose. Cherry flavor and black currants with great length in mouth, also a hint of phenol. Slight astringency on front of mouth in finish with citrus flavor. Big fruit forward wine, with no bitter seed tannins whatsoever

A big, rich red with an equally dominating aroma. Has a smooth body with a rich and slightly dry finish. Incredibly even on the pallet with just an accent of fruit. Perfect for those big meaty dinners.

Nice cherry and black cherry fruit, with graphite, and iron filings. The tannins are well balanced with the fruit and minerality and there’s an acidity that’s almost sharp but pleasant. The finish is long and a little alcoholic.

Medicinal but not overpowering acidity. Pomegranate, dark cherry, super ripe plum. Hazelnut smoke charcoal tobacco. Succulent. All fruit notes are light. Lightbodied and barrel aged 12 months in old oak.

This attention-grabbing Barbera from Washington State, one of Charles Smith’s Italian varietals bottled under his CasaSmith label, boasts subtle scents of medicinal cherry, flowers and herbs and a creamy yet sappy palate impression thanks to brisk acidity. (ST)
