Still ruby at centre with a wide ruby/garnet rim, showing a bit of age, but about in line with expectations . Quite sweet, blackcurrant fruit. Touch of spice and coffee, cocoa. On the palate , a sweet attack, showing more black fruits , tobacco, liquorice and allspice . A pretty big wine , though it is just about balanced, alcohol is noticeable. Not much refreshment value here, quite difficult to see myself drinking more than a couple of glasses! Tannins are quite fine grained , sweet. It’s a blend that I don’t understand to be honest, not sure what the Pinot Noir brings to this. It’s an interesting wine nonetheless and quite well made, but it is a bit of a curiosity , perhaps. It is drinking well now, I don’t see much improvement , though it will still last for a few more years.
