Pretty unreal! But, what do you expect, from an '09 Pinot Noir, from Santa Lucia Highlands?

Magnums to kickoff the holiday season - this is the way. At 10 years after harvest, this 2011 is in a beautiful spot, with a nose that evokes Burgundy and a silky, cool-vintage California palate. Cherry and plum, porcini and loamy forest floor, sassafras, wilting rose petals and the sandy mineral finish that I love in their wines. Bright acidity and fine tannins; these mags will drink well for at least a decade longer. πŸ’πŸ‚πŸ„πŸ₯€πŸ–️

Last of two bottles. The earthy, sous bois flavors have raised in intensity over the last year. The fresh red fruited character remains the same but less forward, and the salty mineral impression I find in all their wines has really emerged.

Last bottle of Caraccioli in the cellar. I guess it is time for a Carmel trip.
